I used to have this sweet pair of Oakleys. I say “used to” because I don’t have them anymore. They were “sweet” because they were Oakleys and because they were free! I found them. I can’t buy expensive sunglasses because I either lose them or break them. So I was pumped when I found this sweet pair shades.
Only I don’t have them anymore. While surfing (i mean boogie-boarding) the big waves off the island coast (i mean “the tide” off of Okaloosa Island in FL) I got pounded by a wave when I wasn’t looking. I made the mistake of wearing my sunglasses out there. They flew off my face and into the sea.
I spent 5 minutes searching the sandy floor, but no luck. They were gone, as fast as they had come into my life. Dejected, I began walking back toward the beach, squinting in the bright sun. Then I felt something brush across my foot. At first I thought it was a shark. Then I bent down and reached into the ocean and pulled out….a pair of sunglasses! They weren’t as cool as my Oakleys, but they were definitely free! I couldn’t help but think about the song “Blessed Be Your Name” and the lyrics that say, “You give and take away, You give and take away…”
Now, I have this sweet pair of sunglasses….
