Better Management

Standard

Just saw a good post by Josh Griffin about becoming a better manager. I’m always looking for short nuggets like this! Here’s a clip:

Don’t just be a launcher – There’s nothing worse than a person who only fires and forgets…

Talk to people, not about people – If someone drops the ball, everyone has the tendency to talk about them, and not to them. There’s nothing more destructive to a team then talking about people behind their back, or allowing your team to do the same.

Be wise in “thinking out loud”

Prepare people for an announcement – If you’re about to drop a bomb or change the direction of your student ministry, it shouldn’t be a surprise to those people it affects the most.

Talk about the thing people are obviously avoiding
