All my suburban Knoxville friends…you’ve gotta get down to Market Square for some Rita’s Italian Ice! Yesterday, Rita’s celebrated the first day of Spring by giving away FREE italian ice! The Teague family took a trip downtown for some mango, fruit punch and cotton candy ice! (can you guess who got cotton candy?)

We first found Rita’s in Clearwater, FL when we were on summer project with Campus Crusade for Christ. This italian ice is the best I’ve had. They also have gelato, which is like high-end ice cream. I think it’s basically frozen custard. Gelato has 55% less air than ice cream, resulting in a denser, more flavorful product (wiki).
